Even to this day, I still bump to this track & it still goes hard.
Everything about this track is uh-mazing (the beats, the hook, the lyrics, Nas' flow, etc). One of my fave tracks has to be: If I Ruled The World featuring Ms.Hill. He reps his Queens pride & shows how QB does it lyrically. The track list for this album is as follows:Īs one of my fave Nas albums, this album really showcases Nas' ill flow (accompanied with some hot beats (produced by the likes of TrackMasters & company). Many also argued that this was not up to par with Illmatic because of it's more commerical sound (and I agree a bit) but It Was Written just has more tracks that I adore. (shows you how times & people's music taste have changed). And this album was actually accepted into the "mainstream" when it was first released. Though he can't seem to break into the "mainstream" nowadays (cos radios wanna play whack sh*t), he is still in my top 5. Nas always had one of the illest flows & dopest lyrical content. After the "I am." album, I copped this album & became a Nas (over Jay-Z) fan (though I still had love for both). & even before I became a Queens resident, I was bumpin' Nas as a lil shorty. One of my fave tracks of this album would have to be "How Many Mics": Her ability to sing & flow is literally "music to my ears" and accompanied by the genius of 'Clef & Pras, the trio deserved the recognition given by Rolling Stone when they made "The Score" a part of there "500 Greatest Albums of All Time". This album was (and still is) highly acclaimed as one of the "most distinctive" hiphop albums of its era (agreed). Each MC brings a different style to the overall flow of the group. The triple mix of 'Clef, Ms.Hill & Pras gives pure musical ear-gasm. The Fugees 2nd album "The Score" was released in 1996.
